“What if this guy logs in while you’re already logged in as him?”
“Relax, I’ve already logged him out. I’m free range, now.” After a few more quick bursts of keystrokes, “Oh, looks like someone did report me to NOBS, saying I would be good breeding stock. That’s a compliment I don’t want. From them, anyhow.” After a few more bursts, “And NOBS then contacted the baby momma bounty hunters with FPS.”
“Any lead on who reported you to NOBS?”
“Ewww. It was Markus. Or someone pretending to be Markus.”
“I knew he didn’t think much of my plan to find the glitch but to directly sabotage it by turning you in, that’s pretty low, even for him.”
“Well, like I said, it could have been someone saying they were him. Oh, and here’s the seizure order for Karen. She was next on their list. Except they have your address wrong. This one is somewhere in Chelsea. It’s nowhere close to that Chinese restaurant.”
“Oh, that was my old address. It pays to move around a lot these days.”
“Anything about the attack on Markus?”
“Let’s look at their phone calls.”
“You sure you aren’t a full-fledged member of those Hexy Nerds?” asks Karen.
“I have been known to teach them a thing or two… Oh, here’s something. Someone in The Admin contacted NOBS to monitor Markus to see if there was any intel on Robox and GenTease joining forces.”
“That doesn’t make any sense. What with Robox’s founder also being The Admin’s Government Efficiency Czar.”
Gayle continues reading, “The Admin is saying Melon Pesos suspects the Caputos of sabotaging their own lovebots at Robox, so their stock price will drop low enough, so they can buy the company from him.”
“Oh, brother! Is Markus behind all of this?”
“We can’t jump to conclusions. It’s equally likely, or more so, Pesos is simply paranoid about losing his most successful company. After the moon disaster, Robox is the only profitable company he has left.”
Karen adds, “Not to mention all the demonstrations against him because of The Admin’s purges he helped with. Could be he’s getting desperate.”
“Oh, here’s the smoking gun! The Admin or someone pretending to be from The Admin told NOBS to attack Markus’s drone! I’m doing a screen shot.”
“Wow! I wonder if it’s The CEO, himself?” Mikl can’t believe what he’s hearing.
